Decontamination

Decommissioning integrator provides services for decontamination of equipment, buildings and structures of nuclear and radiation hazardous facilities

An important stage in the decommissioning of any facility is its decontamination, i.e. the removal of radioactive substances from the surfaces of equipment, machinery and building structures.

Decommissioning integrator utilizes unique, high-tech industry solutions and offers its services for decontamination at nuclear facilities.

Our specialists perform works at various stages of decommissioning, starting from surface decontamination and dismantling works to decontamination of building structures after dismantling.

We offer various technologies for cleaning radiation contaminated equipment, metal waste, building structures and will help you choose the most effective option depending on the specifics and condition of the customer’s facility.

TECHNOLOGIES

CRYOBLASTING
01
Cryogenic blasting is a type of abrasive-jet decontamination. The technology is similar to sandblasting, only instead of sand, pressurized dry ice is used to clean the surface. The principle of operation is that compressed air and pellets of dry ice with a temperature of -78°С are fed into the jet gun. During surface treatment, dry ice turns into gaseous carbon dioxide and, increasing its volume 700 times, penetrates deeply into the contamination, “beating it off”.
SHOT BLAST DECONTAMINATION
02
Shot blast decontamination is a variation of abrasive blast decontamination, where cold cleaning of radiation contaminated metal is carried out in a shot blasting machine. The decontamination process takes place in a hermetically sealed chamber inside which the contaminated metal fragment or equipment is “shot” from all sides with shotgun blast, which breaks the contamination off.
PYROMETALLURGICAL DECONTAMINATION
03
Pyrometallurgical decontamination is designed to clean radiation contaminated metal by pyrolysis; it is carried out in induction melting furnaces at temperatures up to 1650° С.
During the remelting process, metal fragments are cleaned of radioactive contamination and radionuclides are concentrated in the slag. During the remelting process, up to 90% of decontaminated metal is returned to industrial circulation.

LASER DECONTAMINATION
04
Laser decontamination unit is indispensable for cleaning products with complex geometric shape - pipelines and other process equipment. It allows local removal of radioactive contamination from the metal surface.
CONCENTRATED OZONE DECONTAMINATION
05
Concentrated ozone decontamination unit is a mobile (transportable) stand for decontamination of NPP pipe equipment made of corrosion-resistant steels and contaminated during operation with radioactive substances.
